Poroelastic midsoles allow air circulation through open cell structures

The GEL-NIMBUS 9, first released in 2007 was initially designed as a distance trainer for neutral and supinated runners. During the Y2K era, Asics shifted towards more segmented midsole designs. With GEL technology inserts in the heel and forefoot, this tooling helped create better cushioning and a more stable step.
